WE ARE LIGHTHOUSE
ONE CHURCH IN THREE LOCATIONS
When I think of the Church, I think of a lighthouse. The purpose of a lighthouse is to be a beacon of light, providing safe passage around hidden obstructions. As well as this purpose, lighthouses are one of the strongest structures known to man. They are able to withstand a constant beating from the most powerful waves. This is the perfect picture of the Church, capturing both our mission and our position. We are positioned on an unmovable foundation - even the very forces of Satan cannot prevail against us. Our mission is to shine the light of Christ into the darkness of a broken world with the good news of Jesus.

OUR HEART is that Lighthouse exists to connect people to God. The church is full of people who have discovered an incredible richness of life that comes from having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We help people to experience a God who is vibrant, joyful and powerful. He cares about you as an individual and Jesus said that He came to earth that we might have a life of abundance (John 10:10). God’s presence brings a sense of excitement and a fullness of spirit and this understanding of God is reflected in the enthusiastic and upbeat nature of our church services. Our message is one of faith, hope and love. We have a united vision to build the church by connecting people to God, connecting people to people and also empowering people for effective, joyful service.
OUR JOURNEY began with our founding pastors, Gordon and Jo Moore, establishing C3 Church in the northern suburbs of Brisbane on 6th April 1986 with seven people. In November 2016, Pr Andrew McGruther was appointed Senior Minister of C3 Church Bridgeman Downs and Pr Wendy McGruther as Senior Minister in 2019. In 2022, we announced our new name, Lighthouse, which we feel embodies the heart of our mission, whilst remaining part of the C3 Global family. Today, there are approximately 2370 people involved in our dynamic and exciting church. Since its establishment, C3 Church Bridgeman Downs has occupied four buildings:
- Kuran Street Senior Citizen’s Hall, Chermside (1986-1988)
- Boothby Street Warehouse (1988-1996)
- Church Hall, Gympie Rd, Aspley (1996-2001)
- Current facilities on 5 acres of land on the Cnr Gympie & Millar Roads, Bridgeman Downs (2001 – present)
In 2013, C3 Church Inner East was established as a church site plant, led by Ps Steve and Sonia Ryan.
This site commenced in Bulimba State School hall and in November 2016 expanded and secured a
new location at 89 Lytton Road, East Brisbane. In March 2022, Ps Chris and Bek Wiggins took over as site pastors of the location and moved to a new location at 199 Logan Road, Woolloongabba, changing their name from ‘Inner East’ to ‘Inner City’.
In late 2016, C3 Church Springfield commenced as an additional site of C3 Church Bridgeman Downs. Led by Ps Matt and Chrioni Hickson, C3 Springfield first met in Springfield Tavern function room. After
outgrowing that facility in 2017, C3 Springfield met at the Event Cinemas Complex in Springfield. In 2022, they moved to the Springfield Central Sports
and Community Hall in Springfield Central.
Lighthouse (formerly C3 Church) is one church in three locations: Bridgeman Downs, Inner City and
Springfield. Our 35th anniversary as a church was celebrated in April, 2021.
OUR VISION
“…I will put together my church, a church so expansive with energy that not even the gates of hell will
be able to keep it out.” Matthew 16:18 (MSG)
The mission of Lighthouse is to build the church and see lives transformed by Jesus Christ. Our vision is that every person who comes to Lighthouse would:
- KNOW GOD
- GET CONNECTED
- DISCOVER PURPOSE
- MAKE A DIFFERENCE
We believe that to build the Church means to work with Christ, who has a specific agenda to cause His
Church to grow and to increase. This growth is to be in two primary ways: (a) the spiritual
growth and progress of the members, and (b) the numerical growth of the membership. We believe the
local church is the hope of the world and we are committed to building it and seeing lived transformed by Jesus Christ.

SENIOR MINISTERS
ANDREW AND WENDY MCGRUTHER
Andrew and Wendy are the Senior Pastors of Lighthouse Bridgeman Downs. Andrew first attended Lighthouse (formerly C3 Church) Bridgeman Downs at the age of 19, when he was instantly impacted by the faith and vision of the church. Andrew has now been ministering for over 20 years in nearly every department, ranging from kids to adults, and in November 2016 took on the role of Senior Minister from Gordon and Jo Moore. Andrew and his wife Wendy are passionate about building the local church and have a heart to see people experience the life-changing power of Jesus Christ.

OUR VALUES
We Believe there is one God: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit
We Believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ the Son of God; in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, victorious and atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension to the right hand of the Father, His constant intercession and imminent return.
We Believe in the person and work of the Holy Spirit with His fruits and gifts available in the Church.
We Believe the Bible is the living word of God – infallible, authoritative and everlasting, and the foundation of all Christian doctrine.
We Believe in the existence of an evil spiritual being – the devil.
We Believe in the spiritually lost condition of all people and the essential need for the ‘new birth’ by faith in Jesus Christ.
We Believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit as a gift available to every believer subsequent to the new birth, with normal evidence of speaking in other tongues.
We Believe in the sacraments of the Lord’s Supper and baptism by full immersion in water for all believers.
We Believe in the resurrection of both saved and the lost people, the one to everlasting life and the other to everlasting separation from God.
We Believe in the church being the body of Christ, and each member being an active part of a local church, fulfilling the Great Commission.
